STARTLINE – Yasushi Kitagawa

This book is a late birthday present, therefore, after finishing it, I decided to write down something so as not to forget what I have just read and understand the message delivered in the book.

Frankly, the book left confusing thoughts on me since I find myself unable to think about it as a romantic novel nor a self-help book. Personally, it is better to enjoy the story than to have any expectation or judgment. In general, STARTLINE does not put the stress on romantic elements but thoughts about one’s career path, ideal and hope. Unlike many works trying to make drama out of things, this book just has a simple plot, no intense climax and mundane characters. Literature components are simplified to save more room for the ardent encouragements on achieving one’s own dream.

In my opinion, the distinctive feature of this book lies on the author’s effort to make his work honest to the daily life, even though it will possibly be judged as hideous. This book is for ordinary individuals, whose life may not as glittering as the main character in soap or movies broadcasted via the media, and currently struggling with identifying self-values as well as find way to get out of the generation Y’s dilemmas. However, every life has its own value and likewise, every person is the protagonist of their own story, which is different from anyone else’s. Thus, inside the theme of love and dream, Yasushi Kitagawa hopes the young have more attempts on understanding themselves, spending time on self-development rather than grow up under social traits.

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese anime series, follows the adventures of a bounty hunter crew in a spaceship named Bebop with 4 main characters: Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed and the dog Ein in 2071, when human beings live in different planets. Each episode is called a session, containing an independent story, and blended with excellent music.
Things I really love about the show are its characterization and symbolism. The characters are totally different than the first impression they’ve shown. For example, the protagonist, Spike Spiegel was portrayed as a petulant, reckless and indifferent man but the truth is he suffered from the throes of his own past. Besides, one’s personality is disclosed through their action and dialogues with others. In addition, symbolism is used as a springboard to predict one’s fate, controlling the tone and pace of the show, and hiding sadness, confusion and philosophical concepts under the humorous and awesome action scenes.
I’ve tried to watch some series before but failed until Cowboy Bebop, which successfully blew my mind. My initial goal was to get familiar with Japanese but I ended up enjoying the film instead of learning language.😄😄😄

Hello (again)

Actually, I should have my precious time spent to meet my deadline by Wed’s morning now, instead of fiddling while Rome burned. However, when my work reached the deadlock that I couldn’t concentrate, I stopped everything and started to think about something else. Then, I realized that there is nothing right on the left and nothing left on the right side of my brain. No thing right on the left because room for rationality is full of illusion and indulgence. Meanwhile, on the right side, experiences, emotion and memories are faded day by day as if they have never existed.

Seem like I’m mentally and physically dying. Hitting the rock bottom of being a desperate and indolent procrastinator, I decided to create a blog
againas a portfolio for my messy mind.

Therefore, I need a thing to record what I’ve done and what I’ve thought. Initially, it can be seen as a process of tidying up the long-time unidentified crazy things in my head, and then turning them into letters to drop them off in this blog. Some very first topics to write about are films, manga, and books, maybe.

Frankly, I have no intention of being a critic nor doing something big. I just hope my writing skills can be improved and if possible, mindset is trained. This blog will written mostly in English (target language), sometimes in Japanese (second target) and maybe in Vietnamese (mother tongue). Due to my frequent record of giving up, I wonder whether how this place can be this time next year. Is it a place full of odds and ends or just an abandon blog?
